In Shizuoka, the standard way to mix shochu (Japanese distilled spirit) is with green tea instead of hot water. This is called "Shizuoka-wari."
It might prevent you from getting too drunk.
A regular customer of the powdered Kakegawa tea and the proprietress of a local izakaya (Japanese pub) were clearly using them for different purposes.

It's apparently very popular as a drink to sober up.
You can also enjoy a flavorful green tea cocktail by mixing tea brewed with cold water using loose leaves or tea bags with alcohol.
